Property LocationThe property is located on the west side of North Bendix Drive in the Airport Industrial Park which is part of the 2010 Development Area. Established in 1990, the Airport Economic (Blackthorn) Development Area has provided an environment at the city’s far northwest side for new industrial, warehouse and business development. The 3,500-acre economic development area includes immediate access to the South Bend Regional Airport, the Indiana Toll Road and the US 31 Bypass (St. Joseph Valley Parkway). The city has focused its efforts on building additional infrastructure including a dark-fiber vendor neutral St. Joe Valley MetroNet and the City of South Bend, in partnership with the University of Notre Dame, has received the first two-site certified tech park designation for Ignition Park and Innovation Park which will stimulate future industrial, office and commercial investment in the marketplace. Locally, this convergence of major highways (and railways) is referred to as the I-80/Lake Michigan effect. Virtually all cross-country east/west traffic generated north of I-80 and east of Lake Michigan passes through St. Joseph County, Indiana. As a result, the interstate, state and local transportation systems serving the St. Joseph County, Indiana area have developed as one of the nation’s strongest, from both a facility and a services perspective. |
