University Park Trade Area
This site is located in the University Park Trade Area (UPTA). The South Bend-Mishawaka area is the second largest retail trade area in the state next to Indianapolis. The UPTA contains over 6.5 million square feet of retail, office and hotels. The Designated Market Area (DMA), which contains the UPTA, encompasses a ten-county area including Northcentral Indiana and Southwest Michigan. The DMA population is approaching one million and has an Effective Buying Income of over $14 billion with retail sales over $8 billion. The area benefits greatly from nearby universities. Visitors to the University of Notre Dame spend (annually) over $92 million in the area.
